MacroMint AI Privacy Policy

MacroMint AI is a food and nutrition tracker with diabetes and PCOS risk screening. This policy explains what the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and how to get rid of it. It covers the MacroMint AI Android app and the MacroMint AI backend service. Use of the app is also governed by the terms of service.
Signing in
MacroMint AI uses Google Sign-In as its only way to sign in: there is no separate MacroMint AI username or password. Use a Google account and tap the Google Sign-In button to continue.
Note on app loading: if you see a delay or an error on your first attempt, this is usually a server cold start on our backend rather than a problem with your account. Wait a few moments and try signing in again.
What we collect

MacroMint AI does not collect your location, contacts, call logs, SMS, or a list of the other apps on your device. The app does not show advertisements. It does include Meta's App Events SDK for ads measurement, described below.
Sensitive personal data
Your health profile, risk questionnaire answers and food logs are health data. They are treated as sensitive personal data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We use them to provide the features described above. Optional sex is also sent to Meta as a hashed male/female value for ads matching, as described below. We do not sell them. We do not send calorie values, food logs, questionnaire answers, scores, or risk bands to Meta or to any other advertising network.
Who we share it with
- Supabase: hosts authentication and the database where your account and logs are stored.
- OpenAI: receives the messages you send to the AI coach, plus the nutrition context needed to answer them, so it can generate a reply.
- Google Cloud Vision: receives meal photos you choose to scan, in order to identify the food in them.
- Google Sign-In: verifies who you are when you sign in.
- Meta Platforms (Facebook SDK / App Events): receives the advertising events listed above, plus hashed Advanced Matching fields (name, email, phone when present, sex as male/female, account id), so installs and those in-app actions can be attributed to Meta Ads. Meta processes that data under Meta's privacy policy.
Each of the first four processes data on our instructions. Meta receives the advertising events and hashed matching fields described here, not your food logs or questionnaire answers. We do not sell your data to anyone.
Advertising measurement (Meta App Events)
The Android and iOS apps include Meta's App Events SDK. The SDK sends:
- App install and app open (automatic).
- That you opened a named in-app feature, with a generic feature id (for example that a risk questionnaire was opened). The score, risk level, and your answers are not sent.
Name, email, phone, date of birth, and other identity fields are not passed to Meta from MacroMint AI. Food logs, calorie and nutrient values, and health-profile fields are not passed to Meta.
The app does not display ads. This SDK exists so a Meta Ads campaign can tell whether an install or those few in-app actions followed an ad. You can reset the advertising identifier in your device settings. Deleting your MacroMint AI account stops new events from this app; it does not erase events Meta already received. See account deletion.
Photos
The camera is used only when you open the food scanner or attach a photo to a meal. A photo is sent for recognition, the result is returned, and the image is not kept in your account afterwards. The app never reads your photo library in the background.
How long we keep it
Your data stays for as long as your account exists. Delete the account and it goes with it (see below). Server logs that may contain an IP address are kept for up to 30 days for security and debugging.
Deleting your data
In the app: Profile → Delete account. It is immediate and permanent: your account, health profile, food logs, risk assessments, coach history, ratings and feature-request votes are erased at once, with no recovery period. Feature requests you posted stay on the board without your name, so a popular idea is not removed because you left.
If you have uninstalled the app, use the account deletion page instead.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your data, and withdraw consent, at any time. Most of this is available in the app directly; for anything else, write to us at the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS. Sign-in tokens are held in the Android keystore via encrypted storage, and the app supports an optional PIN or biometric lock. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not store passwords ourselves: sign-in is handled by Google and Supabase.
Children
MacroMint AI is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Not medical advice
MacroMint AI provides general nutrition information and risk screening based on published instruments. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose anything, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified doctor. Always consult a healthcare professional about your own health.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and notify you in the app before the change takes effect.
